Membership Meeting
Greetings Membership!
You are invited to join us in the garden of Susan Lang and Bill McDowell for our September Membership Meeting.
Susan and Bill have curated a vast collection of art and have graciously offered to host our meeting and give a tour of their personal gallery. We'll finish in the garden with local sculptor Bud Skupniewitz and his piece featured in Susan and Bill's garden.
Bring a dish to share and prepare to be inspired! There is plenty of parking on College and Lake View streets.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at 537 College St. on September 11th at 6:00pm.
Warmest regards,
Town and Country Days Parade
If you would like to walk with AAGLM in the Town and Country Day parade on June 29th, please use the link to sign up.
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B44AFAF2DA6FEC07-50161986-walk
Set up goes from 9:00-9:45am with the parade starting at 10:30am. This will be the “classic” parade route down Main Street.
There will be people walking and passing out fish cards by local artists (paint and brush included). There will be bubble wands for walkers to play with throughout the route as well as giant bubbles to wow the crowd.
Sounds pretty fun, right? Well that’s not all….
Gus Bradt will be live painting a giant version of the fish cards we’re handing out for inspiration in motion. Bill McDowell has generously agreed to let us use his truck so we’re going to set Gus up in the bed of the truck and tell him to engage his core while creating a masterpiece on wheels.
(No pressure, Gus)
At the end of the parade walkers are free to peel off and enjoy the rest of festival weekend!
There are 80 of each design with a total of 400 cards.
Thank you to those who were able to submit fish, I am absolutely in love with our aquarium.
SmartPhone workshop
Angie Szabo, Artist and Fort Atkinson High School Art Educator with volunteer High School Artists from FAHS’s National Honor Society will be presenting a cell phone photography workshop in which they will explain how we can use the technology in our back pockets to take compelling, interesting and beautiful photos. New information this year will cover taking great portraits and family pictures, and utilizing more advanced photography modes in our camera. Participants will have the opportunity to practice these techniques with the support of our volunteer instructors on the beautiful grounds of our local library!
What to Bring: Yourself, a friend, and a fully charged smart phone.
Where: Top floor of the Lake Mills L. D. Fargo Public Library
AAGLM members $10, nonmembers $35 (includes a one year membership to AAGLM!) - Payable at the event.
So we may plan, please signup below. Bring friends!

OSCAR SHORTS
Art by Carolyn Liedtke
The Public is invited to an exhibition and sale of art by longtime member Carolyn Liedtke at the Dwight Foster Library, 209 Merchants Avenue, Fort Atkinson, WI. Library hours are Mon-Thurs 8 am to 8 pm, Friday 8 am to 6 pm, Saturday 9 am to 2 pm
Here is Carolyn’s Invitation:
During the entire month of December, I will be exhibiting more than thirty of my watercolors at the Dwight Foster Public Library, 200 Merchants Avenue, in Fort Atkinson. I am grateful to the Arts Alliance of Greater Lake Mills for arranging this exhibition and helping with the hanging. Since I have sold my home and closed my gallery in Lake Mills, many of my paintings must find good homes, so I’m pleased to have this opportunity.
There will be a Reception on the closing day of the exhibition— Saturday, December 30, from 12 noon to 2 pm—when pur- chasers can pick up their paintings and everyone can enjoy a glass of apple cider and nibble chips.
Many of the paintings are landscapes. Most of these were painted on location in Wisconsin and other places that I have visited in the United States and around the world.
Wayside Farm was painted looking through my car wind-shield before this pleasant landscape morphed into a shopping mall. Nowadays, these paintable scenes are few and far between.
I love adding wildlife to my landscapes, like this majestic Gray Heron, gliding gracefully over Rock Creek.
There are a few florals; most have been sold, but there are still some nice ones, like Sunflowers ala Vincent, my watercolor version of Van Gogh’s iconic masterpiece, with sunflowers from my own garden.
I hope that you will come to what will probably be my last exhibition. And if you have no more wall space, please, please bring a friend who has.
Love, Carolyn Liedtke
